Chanel Haliburton is the inaugural Director, Equity and Culture at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. In this new role, she helps to shape and implement the Foundation's equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategy; facilitates organizational truth, reckoning, and repair processes; and reimagines systems of accountability for equity across the Foundation.
Chanel is a collaborative, creative and strategic leader who has built capacity and systems that center equity across multiple nonprofit organizations, both domestically and internationally, in the areas of public health, youth development, civil liberties, education and community development. Chanel began her career as an HIV/AIDS educator in DC public schools and most recently served as the Associate Vice President of Community Engagement at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY).
Chanel holds a Bachelors in Human Services from George Washington University, a Master in Public Health from the Mailman School at Columbia University, a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Master in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
